Lou qualified in 1995 and has worked extensively in the field of neurorehabilitation in a variety of settings including acute care and community, NHS, the charity sector and independent practice.
As a clinical specialist she has managed and developed a successful team in delivering a neurorehabilitation service to clients with acquired and progressive conditions. Lou offers a high-quality service driven and underpinned by a client centred approach, based on sound clinical evidence.
Ensuring the future of the Occupational Therapy profession is founded on good quality evidence and best practice, has motivated Lou to combine her neurology and vocational experience with academic research. She is currently providing training and mentoring to allied health professionals and nursing teams across the UK, to deliver occupational advice as part of a NIHR funded trial. Lou has contributed to disseminating research findings and has published in scientific journals. She has also written a chapter in a book about her role as an independent occupational therapist in supporting a client who sustained a traumatic brain injury to rebuild his life.
