John Qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2001 and has amassed extensive experience as a moving and handling assessor and trainer, fulfilling public sector roles within this speciality in both the Local Authority and NHS sectors. This includes completing and supporting teams and organisations with training needs analysis, bespoke training, complex risk assessments and handling plans as well as managing complex caseloads of his own.

John is also highly experienced in making recommendations for major and minor works of adaptations and moving and handling equipment in client’s own homes. His focus is always on best practice alongside carer support to ensure the client’s environment meets their needs and maximises safety and occupational performance.

John has been an associate with the OT Service since August 2019 and also works in the specialist field of Trauma and Orthopaedics as an Advanced Occupational Therapist in a Major Trauma Rehabilitation Unit. He has experience of working and managing complex caseloads across several healthcare specialties, including stroke, neurology Multiple Sclerosis, persons with lower limb amputations  due to trauma and vascular disease in acute, rehabilitation and community settings.

John is passionate about demystifying the world of moving and handling across all professions, he has presented on the topic for the last two years at the OT Show and speaks every Month at OTAC on the subject.
